Vice President Mike Pence and other top US officials intervened to persuade Secretary of State Rex Tillerson not to resign during the summer as tensions rose between President Donald Trump and the nation's top diplomat, NBC News reported on Wednesday.

Pence met with Tillerson in July to try to ease growing discord over policy, NBC News reported, citing 12 current and former senior administration officials and other people close to Trump.

Their meeting came days after Tillerson, in a session with Trump's national security team and Cabinet officials at the Pentagon, openly criticized the president and called him a "moron," NBC News said, citing three officials familiar with the incident.

NBC News said Tillerson's "moron" comment followed a meeting on Afghanistan in which Trump compared "the decision-making process on troop levels to the renovation of a high-end New York restaurant." Also around this time, Trump made a politicized speech to the Boy Scouts of America, which Tillerson once led.

I wonder what kind of work environment Mac66 comes from?
I'm guessing state bureaucrat.
Why do so many officials FEAR and kowtow to the Marshfield Airport gang?

What is the source of their power? Does it involve some kind of unseemly enterprise? A government entity?

Hey Joseph: small business, no hand outs, make it happen every day.
been holding the repubs to much higher standards than themselves
False. Been claiming for a long time the Dems have nothing but opposition to run with; similar to Republicans during Obama era. Polosi, Reid, Kaine, BC, HC, all of them are terrible for the party.

If Kasickh was the nominee, would have voted for him. MCas would have too, but now he's gone from Trump basher to Trump buddy...join the crowd.

The truth is both sides are terrible.

That said, so many conservatives are sanctimonious blow-hard hypocrites. Take this paragon of virtue:
A text message sent in January to U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy by a woman with whom he had an extra-marital relationship took him to task for an anti-abortion statement posted on Facebook from his office's public account.

"And you have zero issue posting your pro-life stance all over the place when you had no issue asking me to abort our unborn child just last week when we thought that was one of the options," Shannon Edwards, a forensic psychologist in Pittsburgh with whom the congressman admitted last month to having a relationship, wrote to Mr. Murphy on Jan. 25, in the midst of an unfounded pregnancy scare.
The congressman has been lauded by the Family Research Council, for his stance on abortion, as well as for family values, generally. He also has been endorsed by LifePAC, which opposes abortion rights, and is a member of the House Pro-Life Caucus, an affiliation that is often cited by his office.
Another — a six-page memo to Mr. Murphy purportedly written by his chief of staff, Susan Mosychuk — described a hostile workplace in which Mr. Murphy repeatedly denigrated employees, threatened them and created a state of “terror.”
Didn't you get a kick out of Teddy Cruz looking at dirty movies on Twitter?

So, have at it, bring up Teddy K and Bill and all the rest of them. And continue to pretend that you guys have God's special blessing. Talk about fake news-

Not Trump buddy, just think he is 400% better than I thought he would be. Still a Kasich guy, but he is a bit much at this point. We only get one POTUS at a time. I root for all of them. No one ever accused me of joining the crowd. First time for everything.

They can write all the articles they want. Unless charges are brought against all involved and put on trial then the investigation was just a waste of time and money.
All the good work of those investigating this as well as the informant involved is a slap in the face to them.
It is us the citizens who are the ones that are continually being punished when one of these high profile people are allowed to keep breaking the law and walk around without any fear of punishment. It's a viscous cycle that never ends.

Joy-Ann Reid, MSNBC host tweeted:

“{General} Kelly grew up in segregated Boston, in an Irish Catholic neighborhood where women were bullied, not honored, and blacks scorned and rejected.”
1:11 AM October 20, 2017

So, what's the message here - that a person is qualified and classified and characterized solely based on where they come from?
Why do so many officials FEAR and kowtow to the Marshfield Airport gang?

Joseph there is nothing false by Joy Reid statement. Irish Catholic neighborhood in Brighton and South Boston were segregated until 1972. Kelly was born in 1950. Also he lied about the Congresswoman Wilson. Why read the story posted by the Hill and learn how low Gen Kelly has gone .

HokieAl please quote the words that she twisted for political gain. I know by you making that statement you haven't seen the video of her speaking at the dedication of the FBI building. Also why is it wrong for the widow to have people listen to a phone call but it's ok for Trump have people in the room to listen to what he said. Not one person has stated that what Congresswoman Wilson repeated from the phone call was a lie. The only two people that lied about Congresswoman Wilson was Trump and no creditability Kelly.

She may have paraphrased the words properly, but she twisted the context.

I don't care about an FBI building.

She said she'll have to tell her kids that she's a rock star now. That's what you need to know about her altruism.

Rep. Wilson should not have spoke about the phone call. Rep. Wilson should have let the family handle the situation. Rep. Wilson appears to have used the phone call for political purposes.
Rep. Wilson has made a somber situation into a political spectacle.
Rep. Wilson is a disgrace.
I want to give my condolences to Myeshia Johnson, her children and the rest of her family.
I also want to give special thanks to Sgt. La David Johnson for his service to our country. He truly did make the ultimate sacrifice.
President Trump needs to admit when he screws up as it drags others down with him including those who voted for him.
We have all been through tough times such as the passing of someone. It's a delicate situation at times. Even when you know what your going to say it doesn't always come out that way.
Trump needs to apologize and the media needs to stop thinking they are a higher power than God.
How about putting all that time and energy into a nice story on Sgt. Johnson's life.
