I think if you are going to pick the greatest athlete, you also have to add in their overall effect on the region and if you do that it has to be Orr. Look at what he did has far as the explosion of youth hockey, and the amount of money that was spent building rinks in the city.

As for Yaz I think he has to be excluded as he clearly stayed around to long.

Orr or Russell.

I have never seen anyone control a game like Orr, his speed, his smarts, offense, defense. He set the pace.

Russell 11 titles in 13 years how can you argue with that.

Yas did the best with the least talent.

Ted Williams was the best hitter who ever lived but he was average at defense, slow on the base paths.

Larry Bird was not the greatest "athlete" but he was about the smartest player to ever play the game.

Brady could surpass them all. Except Orr of course.

I'm too young to have any first hand Williams, Yaz, Russell or Orr memories.

I'm waiting to cast my vote until after Sunday. If we win, Brady gets my vote...

Imagine this.

Penalty called on the Bruins. FAce off. Orr gets the puck and then skates for a good minute or minute and a half with the puck and no one can take it away.
