The Red Sox pulled out a 6-5 win at Yankee Stadium in the early hours of Saturday morning. Officially clocked at 6 hours and 49 minutes, the game was the longest by time in Red Sox history. Amid the squandered leads and game-tying home runs, a 16-minute delay caused by a section of lights going out during the 12th inning extended the affair.

I watched a little of yesterday's game and I was surprised how empty the stands were in Yankee Stadium. I'd think that any game against the arch-rival would fill the place. I wonder how many of them were still in bed after the previous night's game.

The seats in back of the plate in NY are $2,500.Not to many are going to pay that to sit there in the cold at this time of year.

I also found this statistic interesting in today's Boston.com:

"TMR reports that the Red Sox have the highest prices in MLB in terms of average ticket price ($52.34), parking ($35), cap price ($25), and beer ($7.75). Boston’s FCI increased by 3% despite last season’s last place finish, but that figure isn’t far off from the 2.5% MLB average. Royals fans will see the biggest difference in their costs this season, with Kansas City’s FCI increasing by 10.5% on the heels of last year’s surprise pennant run."

Baseball isn't a sprint to the postseason,it's a marathon. We'll see where they stand in the fall and don't end up falling flat like the Bruins.

I wouldn't get too excited with this pitching staff, they are 19 games into the season and have now allowed 10 or more runs three times.

Well it is the end of July and the Red Sox are 14 games behind the division leading Yankees and headed for their 3rd last place finish in the last 4 years.

Thinking of baseball? How many weeks 'til Spring training?

Why do so many officials FEAR and kowtow to the Marshfield Airport gang?

What is the source of their power? Does it involve some kind of unseemly enterprise? A government entity?
