Top Five Non-Marshfield Restaurants

Post by pat » Dec Wed 01, 2004 10:23 am

Here's something we haven't done in a while.

Name your favorite five restaurants outside of Marshfield, but within 20 miles (read: not Boston).

I'm sure I'm missing some, but...

La Paloma
Jamies in Scituate
Lynwood Cafe (pizza)
Barker Tavern
Tsang's (Duxbury)

I like this place:

The Run of the Mill Tavern, Plymouth

They have a great outdoor area in the summer, overlooking the mill.

My favorite place for fresh seafood is the Snug Harbor Fish market in Duxbury. They also have outdorr seating in good weather.

You beat me to it!

Also across the street is the Crow Nest. Nice second floor deck.

Nautical Mile, food is ok, but love the deck on the water!

i loved stoneforge, i've been there on a few dates and the place is soo beautiful. kind of deceiving because its on the outskirts of a strip mall, but it was one of the nicest restaurants i've been to in mass.

This thread needs a little negativity, so I hearby proclaim the worst resturant ever is the pier 44.

I don't think its the worst...but it is pretty bad for dinner. I think their brunch is good though

I hate children in resturants. Resturants are where I often see some of the most pathetic parenting.

Tosca's in my opinion is over rated.

yes it is attractive, good atmosphere and food

But

it is loud, cold, overpriced, and the portions are very small. I hate leaving a restaurant hungry.

Good places to try near the Orpheum are Silvertone or even Scollay Square which is up near the State House. But of course, neither are your classic Italian if that's what your craving.

To resurrect a very old thread, I was in the area and picked up some Polish take-out at Cafe Polonia last night in honor of Cazimir Pulaski (yesterday was Pulaski Day in Illinois).

Image
http://www.cafepolonia.com/

The prices have gone up a bit, but the food is delicious and it is stuff you just can't get anywhere else.

That's the Polish Plate with keilbasa, pierogi, stuffed cabbage and some cabbage stew. I picked up a spare for lunch today. A side of potato pancakes is a must.

I'm not going to say these are the top 5 restaurants of all time but we do frequent them.

Quans Kitchen, Hanover

Greenside Grille, Hingham
(they just changed their menu and reduced the prices to under $20 and the staff said the place is packed every night now)

China Wok, Pembroke (take out only)

Galley Kitchen, Scituate (Tapas). Just went there Sat night and it was fun and all the food we ordered was good.

Plaza Azteca, Hingham (for the table made guacamole) Drinks are watered down (everyone agreed) but the Guacamole is delish!

DelFriscos in Roslindale (on my, it is just like ITALY)!

LaCucina Sul Mare, Falmouth (sorry more than 10 miles away but worth the ride)

Lamberts, Westwood (best salad bar on the south shore)

Grotto, Boston (best risotto)

Galley Kitchen, Scituate (tapas, it was really good and a ton of fun)
