Also, you state that it will be decades before there is a flooding issue. I am more than 2 miles away from the airport but m...

Bridges: Frankly, I do not think this push to move flood plains miles away from the ocean was to protect banks' interests. Banks will be stuck with many, many foreclosed and devalued homes. According to your thinking, the banks should have known better than to loan money to people buying homes anywh...

Re: Stop FEMA rally Saturday

Again, this is what I do not understand. Most of the people now being forced to have flood insurance never bought nor do they want it. If they are willing to take the risk of these future floods; why not let them. Is this a way to subsidize those people who make a lot of claims. Also, did I read cor...

Bridges said "Yes - the point is, MANY OF THE HOMES IN DANGER ZONES SHOULD NOT BE THERE, AND SHOULD NOT BE REPLACED". Reading between the lines, I understand that the point of this huge increase is to drive people out of their homes. With the same logic, money SHOULD NOT BE POURED INTO the airport w...

I believe I found the answer to my question in yesterday's Mariner. In a low risk area, max coverage of $250K for structure and $100K for contents costs $412 a year. Slightly higher for home w/basement. Same coverage for high-risk area costs $3289 with a $2k deductible. Wow that is a huge increase a...

Injured Baby Seal at Brant Rock

Yesterday, a baby seal was rescued by a scuba diver at Brant Rock. He was swimming close to shore and appeared sluggish. He swam right up to a scuba diver who put him in his float. At that point, it was obvious that he had been bitten in several places. Once in the float, the baby seal kissed the di...

You do not have to leave town. Green Harbor beach is perfect for small children. The water is calm and little ones love to watch the boats head out to the ocean as well as hunt for snails on the rocks. Also a great place to meet other children. Enjoy.
